Protect our Pollinators

Feed the Bees

Our native bees need your help. Be wise with your gardening choices. Go with native flowers and nectar rich. In your landscape, plan for blooms that last throughout the entire season. Avoid those nasty herbicides and pesticides. Set out shallow water bowls because bees get thirsty too!!

Our native bee populations are in decline. At Cedaroak, we chose to highlight the importance of pollinators by starting an Interpretive Bees and Butterfly Garden. We want to FEED THE BEES. We have planted nectar rich species of native Oregon flowers that bloom early, such as Flowering Red Currant and Oregon Grape, then mid season bloomers such as Showy Milkweed, and late season bloomers such as Asters and Sunflowers.

People are waking up to the importance of our pollinators because without them, 70% of our foods would not exist. Our food production and biodiversity depends on BEES. Pollinators give us our fruits and vegetables that we love. The European Union has voted to ban the toxic pesticides called Neonicotinoids that are decimating our bee populations.

Everyone join in…. Protect our Pollinators.
